I was looking to rig my Hobie Mirage with a flexible, over the hull rod holder solution that would both be adjustable and strong enough to troll and hold the rod, either baitcasters or spinning rods.
I went with the following solution which uses a YakAttack GearTrac with the Screwball, and a Ram-Rod holder.
Shopping List:
- RAM-ROD Revolution Rod Holder ( 1)
- YakAttack Screwball 1.5 in. Ball with MightyBolts ( 1)
- YakAttack Gear Trac GT90 8 Inch Aluminum Mounting Track - Single ( 1)
Tools:
- 1 screwdriver/drill
- 1 wrench
- Marine Goop
 |
Clean up the area and align the track to make sure of its position |
 |
Drill the holes on either side first, mark the other. |
 |
Add the screws on the outside first to be sure the others will be aligned (add marine goop to the screws before adding them in) |
 |
Add the washers and bolts from the from hatch (use a small wrench to hold the bolts in place). |
